The tomatoes of childhood, even homegrown, pale in comparison to today's heirlooms.
This morning, I bought five tomatoes, each a different variety.
Lunch was the Cherokee Purple.
Dinner will be one of these, none of whose names I remember.
I don't care: bursting with summer, each promises magic, and none will disappoint.

Beautiful! My dad grows several varieties, so I stocked up this weekend on a visit. A tomato sandwich is on the menu for lunch each day this week. Enjoy yours!
Which ones does your father grow?
I don't know all of them, but I know he grows Cherokee purple, better boys, pink girls, and a yellow variety. They are all good to me :-)
I so love their names. Saturday, I am going to write down the varieties grown by the gentleman who sets up next to me at the market.
