Another Opening, Another Show

Ballet with the Greats dancing followed by a dinner/movie date (Miss Dots fried chicken [but the collard greens win the day] and the movie Hachi [a throat-catching film about loyalty and love]) with the nephew and two Greats (one human, one canine).

For some it might seem tutu much of a good thing, but not for me.

Home is where the heart always is, and that home is filled with it.

An evening out

with the nephew means brew (Trimtab's Zero Dark Thirty is five stars, no matter what the nephew in the mob cap says), barbecue (Dreamland's ribs are still the best), and Birmingham (a visit to The Club for the view at my request, proving the nephew's mettle [despite his complaining about the cold wind and low temperature]) makes for a highly satisfactory occasion.

Care Packages

Just when my sprained ankle/foot began to get the best of me, I enjoyed three lovely surprises:

1. an unexpected gift of real New Orleans coffee, wrapped beautifully as always by my friend S in a kitchen tea towel and ribbon, which also serves to secure the ice pack to my foot;

2. a Gryffyndor scarf and chocolate frog from Harry Potter World;

3. hand-delivered by my one and only blood nephew, whom I had not seen since early December.

Even my swollen toes were well pleased, although you can't tell from their sad bruising.

Day 32: Another Day That Changed My Life

That day I watched him spin and laugh, his hair flying like hay off his head, so big his mother slit his shirt necks and still we struggled to pull them on and off, I knew I'd love him forever.
