The Frist Center's exhibitions, Kandinsky: A Retrospective and Sanctity Pictured: The Art of the Dominican and Franciscan Orders in Renaissance Italy, excited me.
The joyful buzz and delightful conversation with a docent (Greek, I think) in the Martin ArtQuest Gallery charmed me.
The gift shop tempted me with its usual array of trinkets.
But the building -- teeming with rainy day visitors -- kept making me look up and down instead of at the exhibited art. The former post office is a masterpiece to behold: Art Nouveau makes me swoon.
