8:30 AM: Ice coats the lake's lip along the dam.
I pop my walking stick
on hexagonal plates like a bongo.
In a few places, air bubbles speak coming heat.
2:11PM: 57 degrees, the air nearly balmy in full sun.
It's as if leaf and silt,
fish and salamander,
odonate larvae and grass
rise with those oxygen bubbles,
breaking thin winter into spring.
