This year, I go every day, once a day to Lake Cheston, and sometimes I get lucky.
I saw a Comet Darner today, I think. See it? There, in the middle? That lozenge speeding along the lake's surface? The cigar-shaped red thing with the green head?
And a Black Saddlebags, I think!
And my first-ever decent photograph of a dragonfly in flight. Meet the Common Baskettail, an old fellow (the green eyes are the give-away), guarding his territory in a quiet and unassuming cul-de-sac along a shaded path.
Oh boy, am I ever lucky, and happy.
