I spotted my first female Banded Pennant of the season, clinging to the grass below the dam bridge, just out of reach for a decent photograph, shot from under a golf umbrella with handle parked precariously under the chin.
I don't know which of us was more miserable -- Banded or Calico or photographer.

I wonder how you manage to keep getting better when I think it an impossible task. Doubltless the key is precariously perched umbrellas and soggy feet - at least on rainy days.
