First frost

of bridal lace
sheer pall
grass breathes
horses' breath

almost Haiku- beautiful- teach me- had to do a poetry notebook my Sr. yr/ at McGehees. All forms of poetry that I made up. Got a B!!! Mrs. Little liked my limerick about a bear in the zoo- didn't know what to do- sat around and sniffed glue- she howled!!!!

When Gail Behre Little laughed, you knew that she meant it. What a wonderful and powerful person she was, one who never suffered fools.

I am fortunate to have had her for English- rather, McGehees was fortunate since she was the only upper school English teacher! Did you know she had it in her contract that she would be off during the World Series?! She believed in me and I loved her for that.

I did indeed know that. I sat with her through many games and never understood her devotion.
